Your first visit

What to expect, from the front door to the plan you leave with.

  • How long it takes

About an hour with a physical therapist. Come a few minutes early to sign in.

  • What to wear and bring

Clothes and shoes you train in. Bring your plan card, a photo ID, any brace or tape you use, and your doctor's or surgeon's instructions. A parent or guardian comes with an athlete under 19.

  • What happens

Your therapist asks about your sport and your week, watches you move and examines the sore area. They explain what they find, the choices and the risks, and you agree on a plan together.

  • What is not decided on day one

We do not promise how long care will take or when you can play. We may ask you to see a physician first if something needs checking.

The gym floor is part of the visit

The first visit is mostly conversation and watching you move. If you and your therapist agree, you try a few exercises on the floor before you leave, so you know what to do at home.
